Commercial solar installation at Upton Barn Wedding Venue in Devon, featuring rooftop PV system delivering renewable energy savings and reduced carbon emissions for rural hospitality operations

Upton Barn Wedding Venue

A commercial solar installation at Upton Barn Wedding Venue in Devon, delivering over 33,000 kWh annually. The system significantly reduces electricity costs while supporting sustainable rural hospitality operations through clean, renewable energy generation

This commercial solar PV installation at Upton Barn & Walled Garden Wedding Venue in Devon demonstrates how rural hospitality businesses can transition toward sustainable energy solutions while achieving long-term financial savings.

The system comprises a 50.16 kWp rooftop solar arrayintegrated across the venue’s primary buildings, designed to maximise south-facing exposure with an inclination of approximately 25 degrees. The installation includes 132 JA Solar panels paired with a 40kW Solis three-phase inverter, ensuring efficient energy conversion and stable system performance.

To further optimise energy usage, the project incorporates a 23.20 kWh battery storage system using a SolaX AC-coupled inverter, enabling load shifting and increased on-site consumption—particularly beneficial for peak event operations such as weddings and large gatherings.

The system is expected to generate approximately 33,408 kWh annually, offsetting a substantial portion of the venue’s electricity demand while reducing reliance on grid imports.

This solar solution aligns with growing demand for environmentally responsible venues, enhancing the site's sustainability credentials while delivering measurable operational cost savings.
